Former Deputy Attorney General Lawyer Dindiok Kpemka has blamed internal wranglings for the failure of the New Patriotic Party(NPP) to win seats in the Upper East region.
He says party members in the region work hard to ensure their candidates do not win because they have problems with the candidates.
The Lawyer believes that until the party learns to resolve its internal issues and not hold onto grudges, the party cannot make headway in the Upper East region.
He made position known while responding to the President’s wish of winning at least 7 seats in the Upper East region.
“The New Patriotic Party has not been losing seats in the Upper East Region. The New Patriotic Party has been handing over seats to the NDC, that is what I have to say in emphatic terms and I have told leadership in the region that unless that status quo is changed we will always keep dancing around and not making any progress. What His Excellency [Nana Akufo Addo] said is very achievable and probably more than that is achievable,” he said.
He explained that “In the majority of the seats that NPP lost in the Upper East, it was self-inflicted. Most of the seats that we lost in upper east were self-inflicted because about eight (8) or nine (9) constituencies were looking very good but internal squabbles within members of the party. We had confusion all over. In many of the constituencies people were doing everything possible to ensure that their own candidates did not win.”
