Until you help the NDC win your region, don’t try aspiring to become President, Dean of the National Regional Chairmen Caucus of the NDC, John Kwadwo Gyapong has told Dr. Kwabena Duffuor and Kojo Bonsu.

He told the two stalwarts fighting to lead the party instead of Mr. Mahama to take a break and focus on doing the “donkey job” first.

Speaking at the launch of former President John Dramani Mahama’s campaign in Ho at the University of Allied Sciences’ Cedi Auditorium on Thursday, March 2, he said until the two Ashantis do the right thing, they shouldn’t try troubling the NDC party.

“Dr. Duffuor, have you won your seat before? Charity begins at home. Have you won it before? Who should do the donkey job for you to become a president of this country? … you have never won it; never have you won the regional chairman,” he said.

To the former Kumasi Mayor, he said, “Kojo Bonsu is from Offinso. I’m wondering why the Ashantis are so eager to become president when they are not doing their homework well. Charity begins at home; go there and win the seats for us before we can think about you.”

“But if you don’t do it and you’re showing your face, I mean, you are just giving us trouble,” he added.

All 16 regional chairmen of the NDC, led by Mr. Kwadwo Gyapong, who is the Oti regional chair, have declared their support for former President John Dramani Mahama.

They say the 2024 general election is based on experience and not an experiment.

The party has slated its parliamentary and presidential primaries for May 13, 2023.
