The finance department of Tano South Municipal Assembly in the Ahafo region has disclosed that their outfit exceeded the revenue target they established for themselves in the immediate past 2022 calendar year.
Speaking in a discussion with High Radio Morning show dubbed High Morning Breeze chaired by Kwaku Mensah Abrampa, Mr. Osei Akoto Appiah, an assistant budget Analyst of the Tano South Municipal Assembly indicated that their revenue mobilization which comprises property rate, fees, charges and fines, license, rent and others had a significant growth in its payment that ensured the excess of the revenue target set for the assembly in the last year 2022.
He noted that the assembly at the beginning of 2022 projected a revenue target of 1, 032, 093.13 stressing that a positive variance of 5,501.14 was accrued as an excess of the established revenue target for 2022.
He disclosed several challenges they confronted but they were able to handle them with a series of deliberations hence they will intensify the discussion of tax to the citizenry to ensure the actualization of more revenue for the assembly to enhance development.
Madam Casandra Nketia, who is also an assistant Budget analyst of the assembly indicated some laydown procedures to follow in ensuring more revenue is collected for the Tano South Municipal assembly in this 2023 calendar year to enhance development in the municipality.
She cited education and sensitization on taxation as one of the core plans to realize more revenues for the assembly hence they will strengthen education and sensitization adding that the finance department will also monitor the activities of its revenue collectors to empower them to work up to expectations to meet the set target for 2023.
She finally revealed that all tax defaulters within the municipality will be arranged before the law court this year to compel them to pay tax or face the full rigorous of the law.
