Two in Police custody, as calm is restored to Aboaso & Hemang after clashes

Calm has been restored at Aboaso and Hemang in the Kwabre East Municipality of Ashanti following a visit to the two Communities by a delegation of Senior Police Officials from the Ashanti Regional Police Command to the two towns.


The visit by the Regional Police Commander, DCoP Afful Boakye and other officers was necessitated by a deadly clash that ensued between some youth of Aboaso and Hemang on Monday, May 9, 2022, in which one person allegedly caught in the crossfire was killed.

Speaking to Correspondent Nicholas Osei-Wusu in Kumasi, the Public Relations Officer of the Ashanti Regional Police Command, ASP Godwin Ahianyo, disclosed that two suspects have been arrested and placed in Police custody in connection with the conflict while body of the deceased has been deposited at the Methodist Hospital’s morgue pending investigation.


The Kumasi Regional Police PRO noted that traditional authorities have assured that they will work towards sustaining the peace achieved so far while the Police have reinforced security with patrols to avoid reprisals.
