Tepa: Man allegedly butchers teenager, pregnant woman to death

 

A man who gruesomely murdered a pregnant woman and her teenage relative on Sunday (June 19) is in custody at the Ashanti Regional Police Headquarters.

 

The suspect, Godfred Aladago, 25, a resident of Atobra, near Tepa, is said to have confronted the victims, after their goats reportedly strayed and caused damage to his farm.

 

Armed with a machete, he launched an attack on the two victims, killing them instantly. He later reported himself to the police after committing the crime.

Angry youth later besieged the Tepa police station and demanded his immediate release so they could lynch him.

 

Some residents who have been narrating the horrifying scene to dailymailgh.com want the suspect to face the full rigors of the law.

 

“I got wind of the information following a distress call and so I rushed to the police station to make enquiries. The suspect was seen with knife wounds and had reported himself to the police. He had also been overpowered by the police who retrieved the weapon from him as exhibits. He has since been placed in custody. I joined the police to the scene and I was shocked to find the bodies lying lifeless. This is barbaric and the man must be brought to justice”, a resident told dailymailgh.com.

“We demand justice”, a relative, Inusah Ibrahim. She[the pregnant woman] is a relative and the entire family is shocked. This is so sad and we want the police to speed up investigations into the incident”.

 

Tepa Divisional Police Commander, Superintendent Martin Assenso who confirmed the incident to dailymailgh.com said the matter has been referred to the Regional Police CID for further investigations.

 

“We have handed over the suspect and the dockets to the Regional CID. They are now handling the case”, the police chief said.
