Samuel Bryan Buabeng, an Assistant Technical Officer at the Office of the President has taken a swipe at former President John Dramani Mahama over his decision to scrap ex-gratia.

The aspiring NDC flagbearer has promised to scrap the payment of the Article 71 office holders ex-gratia when given the mandate again in January 2025.

While launching his presidential primaries campaign at the Cedi Auditorium of the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS), Ho on Thursday, March 2, the 2020 presidential candidate said he will also convince the other arms of government into accepting the removal of the ex-gratia.

“The payment of ex-gratia to members of the executive under Article 71 will be scrapped…we will also begin the process of persuading the other arms of government to accept the removal,” the former President said.

But this, according to the presidential staffer, is a sign of dishonesty and a desperate attempt to win power at all costs.

In a tweet spotted by Modernghana News on Thursday, March 2, Mr. Buabeng told the former ex-gratia beneficiary to return all the money he has received through his service as an MP, Minister, Vice President, and President before he can be taken seriously.

He also demanded that Mr. Mahama stop taking the GHS40,000 monthly salary he receives as former President and return every penny he has already received.

“SCAM ALERT‼️ Dishonest John Dramani Mahama should first return all the ex-gratia he has received from his days as MP for Bole Bamboi, Veep and the President as well as the over ₵40k monthly salary as a former President, then we will take him serious. Ghanaians are wide awake!” he wrote.
