The Jaman North District Manager of the National Health Insurance Scheme, Mr. Sie Kwabena Simon has advised all citizens who are on the National Health Insurance Scheme to report to authorities any health insurance accredited health facilities that may extort monies from patients before health care.
Speaking in an interview with newsmen during a clean-Up exercise organized in the Jaman North District Capital (Sampa) to climax the Health Insurance Active Month, Mr. Sie Kwabena Simon indicated that though cases of monies extortion from health insurance clients have been labelled against a series of hospitals in the country but it is in the high diminishing state within the Jaman North district hence he will ensure that Health Insurance Accredited hospitals within the Jaman North district ensure continuous adherence to the insurance policy to support Ghanaians in accessing quality health delivery.
He advised that insurance card bearers who may be charged to pay any amount of money at the hospital without any Substantial reasons must as a matter of urgency report to the health insurance Authority for swift action to be taken against such institutions to serve as a deterrent to other since series of taskforces have been established to safeguard the victims of Monies extortion before health care.
Mr. Sie Kwabena Simon explained the reasons behind the Health Insurance Active Month which was slated in December Indicating that today is the conclusive day to finalize the celebration hence the decision to organize clean up exercise to tidy up the principal street of Sampa to prevent filthy induced infections within the district to avoid the overpayment of hospital bills by the Health Insurance Authority.
Finally, The Jaman North District Manager of Health Insurance Authority, Mr. Sie Kwabena Simon explained some packages within the health Insurance Month which elapse on Saturday, 31st December 2022 denoting that the president of the republic of Ghana ensured the free registration for all persons aged 70years and above with instant benefit even after the active Month.
He indicated that there is a waiver of the health insurance period that gives one month span for 3months and above expired insurance cards which has been reduced to work instantly after renewal which gives the greatest opportunity to all health insurance holders who may renew their cards today and tomorrow respectively.
He reiterated that all these benefits elapse after tomorrow hence all must take advantage to renew their insurance cards with those without the card ensuring immediate registration to reduce the financial burden that arises when diseases emerge.
Some of the beneficiaries of the Health Insurance Program also expressed their view and advised all and sundry to register.
