Rainstorm destroys homes, schools, transformer and other properties in Dodo Amanfrom; Over 1,000 residents homeless.

 

A rainstorm has wreaked havoc in the Dodo Amanfrom community in the Kadjebi District in the Oti region.

 

The storm lasted nearly one hour on 19th April, 2022 afternoon destroyed homes, schools and electricity installations.

The roofs of some buildings were ripped off, and others completely collapsed. The primary power transformer was also destroyed, as were other electricity polls resulting to about 11 hours power off including it surrounding communities.

Some residents, however, say their source of income is in jeopardy because structures in which they ply their trade and vocation have been destroyed.

Other businesses using electricity could not operate within the hours.

The victims of the rainstorm, who are yet to receive any support to ameliorate their plight, are currently living with friends and relatives in the area.

They have, therefore, appealed to the government and other philanthropic organisations to come to their aid.

National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) have not visit the community to access the cost of properties destroyed and now best the Kadjebi District assembly can support.
