Radio Presenter assaulted as Benya FM attacked at Elmina.

Benya FM, a local radio station in Elmina in the Central Region, came under attack on Monday by unknown people.

The attackers reportedly stormed the radio station during a live programme, discussing the non-availability of premix fuel and the hoarding of the product by some individuals who are not fishermen.

The well-built men disrupted the ongoing programme, pulled down some equipment, and assaulted the host, it is reported.

Managers said the radio station has since gone off air, following the incident and was yet to resume transmission. Police in Elmina District were called in to restore calm and have since commenced investigations.

This incident comes at a time the police at Ajumako also in the same region, are investigating an alleged attack on Prince Acquah, another journalist who was scene filming an ongoing internal election supervised by the New Patriotic Party, NPP in the Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam Constituency.

It was reported that an altercation which nearly marred what appeared to be a peaceful poll at the Ajumako campus of the University of Education, was over ₵20 instead of ₵50 shared to delegates as transportation.

Acquah who was then at the scene was attacked by the angry mob when he was spotted filming the said confusion that erupted.

The matter has since been reported to the police.
