PNC turf war: Apasera sues General Secretary for defamation; asks for Ghc 1 million

The 2020 Presidential Candidate of the People’s National Convention ( PNC) David Apasera has sued the General Secretary of the party Ms. Janet Nabla for defamation, demanding among others that Ms Nabla retracts and apologize for the supposed defamatory statements and pay damages to the tune of Ghc 1million.

The suit brought before the Accra High Court alleged that in May 2022, Ms Nabla granted interviews to Etv Ghana and Happy 98.9 FM in Accra as well as used her Facebook page to make statements about him that have brought his good name into disrepute before right thinking persons of the public.

Mr Apasera, a longstanding member who has served in several roles in the party, has been as loggerheads with General Secretary Janet Nabla over what some analysts say has to do with control of the party. Owing to this, Ms Nabla granted some interviews to media houses on happenings in the party and her disagreements with David Apasera. These pronouncements in the media, Mr Apasera says, defamed him.
