It has been confirmed that two women will be contesting in the National Democratic Congress(NDC) parliamentary Primaries in the Northern Region.
The two from Savelugu and Nanton Constituencies it has been established were the only persons to have successfully picked and filed their nominations.
They include then daughter of a former Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hajia Sajida Shiraz and Abdul Rahman Zeinab Rosina eyeing the party’s slot for Nanton.
Meanwhile, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Tamale North Constituency, Alhaji Alhassan Sayibu Suhuyini is one of three incumbent lawmakers who will be running unopposed at the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary primaries.
The other two from the Northern Region are Member of Parliament (MP) for Tamale Central Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed and Daniel Nsala Wakpal of Kpandai after their contenders chickened out at the close of filing nominations.
The NDC closed the picking and filing of nomination forms at 5pm on Wednesday, March 22, 2023 to pave way for the vetting of prospective candidates.
A total of 59 candidates had picked nomination forms to contest in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary primaries in all 18 constituencies in the Northern Region.
