The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) party in Nkwanta North, and the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) government, have once again, engaged in a war of attrition over the execution of development projects in the district.
Three weeks ago, the NDC communication team compiled what it claimed were the top achievements of the past government and efforts put by the member of parliament, Hon. John Oti K. Bless during their term of office on radio and all other social media handles, but the NPP came out to condemn it, claiming that most of the projects mentioned were initiated by the Nana/Bawumia administration, and that the opposition cannot claim credit for them, especially an ongoing electrification projects in the district.
The opposition NDC also made similar claims after the commission of a health insurance office in the capital
The NDC insisted that funds were secured by the Mahama government for the allocation of the office before it left power in 2016, but accused the NPP of failing to give them credit after it was commissioned.
The NPP is, however, insisting that finance for the extension of light projects is secured by the Nana/Bawumia government, and that the opposition MP cannot be credited for it.
A statement issued by the Nkwanta North Constituency Communications Director of the NPP, Hudu Bawa, reads: ‘It is important that we bring to the attention of the general public that the Nabu, Gbango, Kpassa East and west projects, which the member of parliament O.K Bless and the NDC communications are claiming they have lobby for, is an initiative of President Akufo-Addo and the NPP government, and not that of MP.
Additionally, the DCE, Hon Nawugma William expressed its readiness to make available further financial assistance from the assembly that might be needed to enable the entire Projects to be completed.
“Can the NDC MP and his appendages tell us how much is used in the ongoing projects, I will therefore urge inquiring minds to read all the relevant information and make a succinct conclusion. The NDC cannot escape Nabu light facts and reality, as much as they want to”, he added.
