NDC ‘Broke’ After 8 Years In Power, Begs for ‘Lalasulala’ to Fund Congress

The National Democratic Congress is broke, lacking funds to organize its upcoming National Delegates Congress expected to take place at the Trade Fair Area in Accra on December 17th, 2022.

Leading the fundraising, former President John Mahama put out a mobile money number and a Ghana Commercial Bank Account number to receive at least Ghs100 from 500,000 NDC members and Ghanaians to fund event.

The initiative has been met with mixed reaction, with several persons asking why the party is broke less than 6 years after holding power for 8 years.

Others have also questioned why Mr. Mahama’s private office is receiving the funds instead of the party itself raising questions of accountability.

The Former President Mahama said in all, “about 9,000 constituency, regional and national executives who are the accredited delegates to the Congress will be transported to Accra and accommodated” with the proceeds of the fundraising without adding any other details.

If the 500,000 peopel heed to Mr. Mahama’s call to donate Ghs10 each, the party is expected to raise Ghs5,000,000  for the Congress.
“The party needs your support to fund this Congress” Mr. Mahama cried in a release.

“I am inviting 500,000 willing Ghanaians, NDC supporters, sympathisers, and friends to donate a minimum of 10 Ghana Cedis each to help us fund the congress. You don’t have to be a member of the NDC to donate. Please donate via MoMo number 059 860 4199.  Or pay into the NDC Congress Account at the GCB Bank. Account Number: 13-9113-00-00-837.  If you want to arrange other forms of  support, please send me an email- office@johnmahama.org. Thank you for your support.” He added.
