More Assistance Is Required To Combat HIV/AIDS – Fiona Care Foundation

The Executive Director of the Fiona Care Foundation, Mrs Thelma Akyere Hayford, has called for increased assistance in Ghana’s fight against HIV/AIDS. Despite the government’s efforts through the Ghana Aids Commission, the director claims that much work still needs to be done.

According to her, much more work needs to be done to achieve HIV/AIDS control in society given the infection rate, particularly among young people.

“Respective stakeholders in the fight against HIV should increase their support towards persons living with the condition, particularly the most vulnerable children in society”. Though the government has over the years been committed to the fight through the Ghana Aids Commission and its partners, much more could be achieved,” she said.

Adding that, stakeholders channel more resources and support to complement existing support and initiatives from the government.

Mrs Thelma Akyere Hayford made this call during a fun and educational outing to the Shai Hills Reserve to commemorate this year’s World Aids Day with kids living with HIV/AIDS from the Motherly Care Foundation, an NGO that supports kids living with HIV in Ghana.

Aids Ambassador and Director of the Motherly Care Foundation, Mr. John Azuma emphasized the significance of enhancing the living circumstances of HIV-positive people, particularly at-risk children. He urged charitable organizations to take into account orphans’ recreational needs in addition to the physical donations that orphanages are known to receive while acknowledging the importance of such trips.
