Ministry of Education: Gov’t owes Buffer Stock Company suppliers over GHC340m 

The Ministry of Education has disclosed that the government owes suppliers of Buffer stock company over GHC340 million.

 

This was revealed by Education Minister, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, while answering questions from Builsa South Member of Parliament, Dr. Clement Apaak in Parliament.

 

According to the Minister, the government has made some payments this year and is in the process of clearing the outstanding arrears.

 

Dr. Adutwum assured parliament recent challenges of food shortages that hit some senior high schools across the country are being addressed.

The Minister further disclosed that hard hit Senior High Schools have already started taking stock of their supplies.

“Payment obligation to the National Buffer Company as off 18th July 2022 is GHC340,296,866.08 and the government is working towards payment of this outstanding obligation.

 

“However, the government has reduce and paid an amount of GHC327,871,809.20 to the National Buffer Stock Company,” the Minister added.
