Kasoa: Defiled 4yr-old girl; Police CID under fire for allegedly demanding a share from ‘compensation’

A CID officer with the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Kasoa Divisional Police Command is under fire for professional misconduct.

The officer, whose name was given as Sandra, has been accused by family of a 4-year-old girl who has allegedly been defiled by a 50-year-old man of demanding a “cut” from a ransom the suspect’s family was willing to pay to the victim to settle the issue out of court.

In an interview with Nana Yaw Asare from the victim’s residence at Adam Nana, a suburb of Kasoa on Onua TV/FM’s Maakye Friday, December 30, 2022, the victim’s mother said the family of Brother George –the man who allegedly defiled the young girl –told the police to allow them settle the matter at home with a compensation of ₵4,500.

Out of the stated amount, the CID officer, Sandra allegedly said 500 cedis of the amount should be given to her as her share.

The 4-year-old girl was allegedly defiled by one Brother George, a 50-year-old man whose family house the victim and her parents are tenants.

According to the mother, “after we rejected the ₵4,500 for the matter to be settled outside the court, they have given us our balance (rent) to leave the house so we are now looking for accommodation.”

The rank and file of the police have been called upon to investigate the matter to serve the victim justice.
