Ghanaian youth not employable because they like stealing from employers – GUTA Chairman

Chairman of the Ghana Union of Traders Association (GUTA) Dr. Joseph Obeng has said that the unemployment rate in Ghana is high due to the attitude of the youth in Ghana.

According to him, most of the youth are thieves who will take advantage of their employers to steal huge sums of money hence the reason why they have been unemployed for years.

He drew this conclusion while citing an example of how some young people stole from a friend living abroad who came to establish a company in Ghana.

“I have a friend abroad who said he has made seven million pounds and wanted to start a business in Ghana. In order to test the waters, he brought $300,000. He started the business and employed two young people. Can you imagine that in less than a year, the two people stole from him that he had to close down the business?

He indicated that with the attitude of the young people employed earlier, the country has been rid of a 7 million investment that could employ many.

“The attitude of the Ghanaian worker has made it very impossible for us to employ Ghanaian workers. Now people are interested in employing the services of people from neighbouring countries because of their attitude. This makes employers more comfortable comparatively,” he said.
