Galamsey: More than 200 local and foreign nationals picked up from Atewa forest

More than 200 local and foreign nationals’ engaged in galamsey (illegal mining) have been picked up at an illegal mining site around Anyinam and Akyem-Techiman in the Eastern Region.

 

This followed a swoop by a joint-security operation team inside the Atewa Forest in the region.

 

The miners are said to be operating at different sites in the forest reserve.

 

They were escorted to Accra and paraded at the El Wak Stadium.
