Forestry commission embark on Green Ghana program at Juaboso and Enchi[ Videos/Pictures]

 

The Forestry commission of Ghana embarked on massive planting of trees in aim of making Ghana Greener across all the sixteen regions ahead of 10th June 2022 Green Ghana program.

 

Juaboso and Enchi Forest commission has put the necessary measures in place to help plant 20,000,000 seedlings as said by the first gentleman of the land His Excellency Nana Addo Danquah Akufo Addo.

Last year’s target was 5,000,000 “we exceeded our target” by planting more than 7,000,000 and hoping on Ghanaian to help do more as expected of this year 2022.

Hon. Martha Kwayie Manu speaking to the media made it clear that, planting of trees across Ghana will help reduce global warming. She said, the site allotted for planting are all ready for planting and majority has commenced in the early weeks of May 2022. Therefore, everyone should join hands in Green Ghana program.

She added that, most of the trees planted last year flourish well but to her notice some illigal chainsaw operators and bush fire has spoiled most of the plant. The government has a statutory instrument put in place to govern chainsaw Operations therefore it is necessary for any interested person to come to the Forestry commission for guidance.

The Regional Assistant Manager of Forestry Commission in the Western North Mr. Opoku Antwi said, last year’s program embarked was great which was supported by churches, students and the public. During the assessment most of seedlings planted last year between 60% to 70% survived. This year’s planting is totally based on degraded compartment areas.

Forrest Reserve areas of which residents/ Farmers of a particular area will help in the planting.
