Dr. Bawumia’s leadership has secured a new future economy through digitisation

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has been credited with exceptional leadership that has repositioned Ghana’s economy from a traditional one to one driven by technology.

According to New Patriotic Party(NPP) Member of Parliament for Akim Swedru Constituency Kennedy Osei Nyarko, the digitisation agenda which has largely been spearheaded by Vice President Dr Bawumia has corrected structural deficiencies that hitherto characteristised the Ghanaian economy.

“So far he has demonstrated great competences and exceptional leadership in leveraging on technology to improve and correct the structural deficiencies of the traditional economy,” the NPP MP said.

Since the assumption of office of the Nana Addo administration, digital transformations have resulted in convenient access to services, improved revenue and reducig corruption.

The former Deputy Agriculure Minister who is advocating strongly for Dr Bawumia to be elected flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party catalogued successful digitisation reforms that have been led by the Vice President.

“Today you can clear you goods without paying for all those printed papers. Today you can sit at your comfort zone and submit for your tax returns. Today you can just click a button and pay for all government services without going to que. Today you don’t struggle to locate people all you need to do is to input the person’s digital address. Today we have a unified system of identification for every Ghanaian. Today we ca easily deliver medications to our family members who are difficult to be reached by road. In a few days to come all passengers flying both in and out of our airports will save themselves time and the frustrations of completing both departure and landing cards. Today you can send money across the various momo platforms irrespective of your carrier. Today we have all the banking services we need at our comfort as a result of the vision of this noble man”.

Dr Bawumia’s digitalisation agenda is said to tackle the Ghanaian economy problem in two folds – collecting the data of all Ghanaians to widen the tax net and increase domestic tax revenue to record levels.

That is sorted with the Ghana card registration drive, as all Ghana card numbers will now serve as tax identification numbers.

The second solution is to ensure revenue is not wasted, and that is said to be solved by digitalising operations of all government agencies, putting the work in the hands of computers rather than leaving the majority of it to the fallible human. The digitalisation of operations at among others, the passport office, DVLA and other institutions, ensure that corrupt middlemen are cut out. Hitherto, they received the biggest chunk of the pie, whilst now citizens can pay for their service, receive it promptly and the government receives the requisite revenue its services generate.
