Dampare allegedly in crunch meeting with NPP, NDC leadership over calls to arrest Mahama, Bryan Acheampong

Our sources has been informed by a reliable source that the Inspector General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, has allegedly called for a crunch meeting between his outfit and leadership of the two main political parties.

The purpose of the meeting according to our source is to caution the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) and opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) to be wary of their utterances pending the 2024 political season.

The meeting is based on three thematic areas which according to the IGP would become the norm henceforth.

Firstly, the NPP and NDC are to be mindful of their utterances in order not to make haphazard statements that will plunge the nation into chaos. According to him, any such utterances from any person from the two political parties irrespective of their status would be arrested.

Second among the issues is that, the Police Service henceforth, will not allow any politician to influence them anymore. The era where political leaders feel they have the will to tell the police what to do or not is a thing of the past.

Finally, Dr. Dampare will be telling them the laws of the country determines who has flouted and warrants an arrest, and it does not lie with any politician to dictate to the police whom to arrest or not.

This comes after both the NPP and NDC recently petitioned the IGP’s office to arrest persons belonging to the opposition divide.

The NDC led by one of its legal team members, Godwin Edudzi Tamakloe petitioned the IGP to arrest Member of Parliament for Abetifi, Bryan Acheampong, for saying they will never relinquish power to the NDC.

The NPP on the other hand, had through its National Organiser, Henry Nana Boakye, filed a petition for the former President, John Dramani Mahama and National Chairman of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, to be arrested for making comments which they say can cause mayhem.

Leading the delegation for the NDC in the meeting was Franklin Fifi Fiavi Kwettey, General Secretary of the party and Henry Nana Boakye and Justin Frimpong Koduah, Gneral Secretary of the NPP for the ruling party.
