C/R: 17-year-old boy killed by abandoned bridge at Gomoa Nyanyanor

A 17-year-old Junior High School two (JHS2) pupil at Gomoa Nyanyano in the Central region has died after an abandoned dilapidated bridge fell on him.

The little boy was hit by a slab on the bridge after it broke and trapped him on his way from school, dying instantly.

His remains has since been deposited at the mortuary with investigation by the police pending.

As part of his promises, the Member of Parliament for Gomoa East, Desmond De-Graft Kwasi Paitoo assured the residents to fix the bridge for them but has not seen any upliftment since..

Some residents at ‘Allow Me Junction’, the spot where the incident occurred have avowed to vote out the MP in the next election.

They doubt the MP will muster courage to come and campaign in the area for the 2024 election after not fulfilling his promise.

According to the residents, anytime it rains, pupils find it difficult to cross the bridge to their various schools.

They have therefore called on the authorities to get the bridge fixed to prevent further accidents.
