Statement Issued by Nana Oppong Adease, Asamankese Gyaasehene
It has come to the notice of Nananom that, Barima Pobi Asomanin, Chief of Aworasa is claiming that he is the rightful Chief of Asamankese. This claim is totally false and we have to set the records straight.
Firstly, there is no clan or family called Royal Akua Korang Abrade Akwamu clan in Asamankese.
There is a substantive Chief of Asamankese in the person of OSABARIMA ADU DARKO III
Secondly, Osabarima Adu Darko III has sworn the oath of allegiance to Okyenhene, OSAGYEFO AMOATIA OFORI PANIN following his nomination, selection and election as the Chief of Asamankese.
Okyenhene has graciously ensured that Osabarima Adu Darko iii name has been gazzetted in the records of the National House of Chiefs on 18th December, 2018.
Thirdly, his claim that Osabarima Adu Darko’s gazette is fake should be ignored with the contempt it deserves. Osabarima Adu Darko is indeed the only proper Chief of Asamankese.
The purported installation of Barima Pobi Asomanin has been declared null and void per public notice from the office of Okyenhene on 20th December, 2021 confirming that, there is a properly installed Chief of Asamankese who is OSABARIMA ADU DARKO III.
The purported installation of Barima Pobi Asomanin led to the arrest of Barima Pobi Asomanin and his 30 (land guards) others on 20th December, 2021. They are currently facing prosecution at Koforidua Circuit Court B.
Fourthly, Pobi Asomanin’s claim that there is no festival called OBOƆDWAN in Asamankese attests to the fact that, he is not a true royal of Asamankese stool as he claims.
We note that when Barima Pobi Asomanin’s ancestors arrived in Asamankese, they joined Opanyin Kwame Apeatu Abrade clan. Their deviant behaviour such as not paying family funeral dues and not attending funerals led to their family being expelled from Opanyin
Apeatu ‘s family. Currently, Barima Pobi Asomanin family is split into two with different heads of family.
None of his ancestors has ever been buried in the Asamankese’s Royal Mosleum. (Baamu)
His great grand uncle Opanyin Kwaku Ababio and all other family members were buried at the public cemetery.
Is has become the practice of Barima Pobi Asomanin to make false claims to the newspapers and social media. There is currently no dispute in any court and these are claims he can only make on social media after being dismissed by the relevant courts and traditional authorities
We confirm that Osabarima Adu Darko III is enjoying the goodwill of his Sub-chiefs and all sons and daughters of Asamankese. There is total peace in Asamankese and Nananom will collaborate with the State agencies to ensure the maintenance of law and order.
The grand participation of the sons and daughters of Asamankese during the last celebrations of Ɔboɔdwan festival attested to the fact that Osabarima Adu Darko III is loved by all. Nananom and the sons and daughters of Asamankese remain loyal to their Chief Osabarima Adu Darko III.
