A TOTAL of 39 people have been cleared after vetting to contest for ten vacant positions in the Ashanti Regional New Patriotic Party (NPP).
The aspirants include five females and 34 males who are expected to lock horns come Friday, May 27, 2022.
Francis Adomako and Saalim Mansuru Bamba are running unopposed for the positions of Organiser and Nasara Coordinator respectively.
Five people, including Bernard Antwi Boasiako, Kofi Adum Barwuah, Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, Asare Bediako and Owusu-Aduomi, would fight for the chairmanship position.
For the First Vice Chairman slot, Kwabena Nsenkyire, the incumbent, would face stiff competition from Kennedy Marfo, Yaw Amoateng and Patrick Acheampong.
Seven people are contesting the Second Vice Chairperson position, and they are Victoria Nyarko Owusu-Achiaw, Abraham Boadi and Abagna Samuel Nsosakia.
The remaining contestants include Seidu Mohammed, Patrick Adu-Gyamfi, Adu Asamoah, Kwasi Joseph and Oscar Riches, popularly known as ‘Ghana Beyeyie’.
The Regional Secretary position is being contested for by Nelson Owusu Ansah and Kwame Adom-Appiah, who has acted as the Regional Secretary for some time now.
Allen Gyimah, Shadrack Agyapong, Paul Kwabena Yandoh and Kwame Bediako-Frimpong are contesting for the Assistant Secretary position.
Messrs Isaac Osei Kwarteng, Foster Kwadwo Asare and Frederick Adade are battling Zeinabu Sallow, the incumbent, for the Regional Treasurer position.
In the Women’s Organiser race, Nana Ama Ampomah, the incumbent, is battling with two people, Beatrice Owusu and Adwoa Konadu.
A total of eight people are contesting for the Youth Organiser position, and they include Ofori-Akuoko Michael, Sarfo Raphael Patrick and Martin Ameyaw. The rest are Ohemeng Ian Moore, Isaac Bonsu, Kobina Amo-Aidoo, Duah-Boateng Henry Kwaku and Agyarko Lawrence.
The Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei Mensah, who is the Ashanti Regional NPP Elections Committee Chairman, has said the polls would take place at the Regional Coordinator Council (RCC) at 7am on Friday.
